Damien Maher, H.Dip, NMT, Dublin
Damien specialises in helping treat and rehab recreational athletes and regular gym-goers. His goal is to have them regain optimal performance as well as to be pain-free. He is based in Sandyford, Dublin, Ireland.
As a former pro soccer player, Damien suffered his own fair share of injuries. It was at this time that he noted the void in skills of the practitioners. There was a gap between the treatment of injury, and the rehabilitation and strength training by the same person. As he sought the full recovery demanded by his sport however, this quest turned into a career.
This led Damien to travel abroad to learn from the world’s leading experts, including Charles R. Poliquin. Thus, Damien covered many fields in the management of injuries.
He began his studies with a diploma in Neuro-muscular Therapy. But he rapidly expanded his knowledge with the study of Active Release Technique and Kinetic Chain Enhancement. He then added Structural Balance, Dry Needling, Fascial Manipulation and Fascial Stretch Therapy.
Damien integrates all these treatment modalities with clinical nutrition to provide successful remedies for his clients’ injuries.
Complete rehabilitation is guaranteed thanks to his expert knowledge of program design. His expertise in the gym allows him to provide his clients with a tailored strength training program. This approach not only helps to ensure they obtain full recovery but also to avoid a return of the original injury.

Dr Grove Higgins, Colorado Springs
Dr. Grove Higgins is the movement doctor! He has studied movement, performance, pain, and brain function for nearly 25 years. Initially, he learned his trade under many well known personalities of the performance world. For example, he was taught by Dr. Mike Leahy, innovator of A.R.T. (Active Release Technique) In addition, he has done four years of lab-based biomechanics research as well.
Then, after completing his doctorate, Dr. Higgins concluded that treatment focusing on technique and medical professions are limited by their perspective or toolset. His focus is on the clients’ overall performance, as he realized that pain is a result of inefficient movement. He uses a combination of movement training, soft tissue, and biomechanical alignment methods to resolve his clients’ issues.
In 2015, Dr. Higgins opened Colorado Springs Human Performance and Rehabilitation (HPR) center. This is where he practices, along with other leading experts, offering a broad range of services and experience. They can address all types of issues related to performance, including concussion. He works with a wide range of athletes and coaches. Furthermore, the center can host athletes who travel to get treatment. Dr. Higgins can also travel to treat in many places in the world.
Currently, Dr. Higgins offers seminars on functional anatomy performed on cadavers for clinicians and trainers. In addition to this, in 2016 the HPR will begin to offer a 12 month long internship program. The focus will be on clinicians and performance coaches who have an emphasis on corrective training.
