About Dr. Aronica

Lucia Aronica is a researcher and instructor at Stanford University. She has ten years of research experience in the field of epigenetics. The goal of her research is to understand the interplay among diet, genetic, and epigenetic factors in human health and disease. She is currently working with Prof Christopher Gardner on the largest study ever undertaken to compare low-carb vs. low fat diets with the goal of understanding how diet affects gene activity through epigenetic modifications. Previously, she was project leader at the Vienna-Biocenter (Austria) and visiting scholar at the University of Oxford, where she investigated the role of epigenetic modifications in cancer cells. Dr Aronica is also an enthusiastic teacher and science communicator. She currently teaches Diet and Epigenetics at Stanford Continuing Studies, and Physiology at San Jose State University, and she has received several awards for her ability to convey complex concepts to lay audiences, both in writing and orally.
